Jobster Taking a Different Approach to Online Recruiting
With over 200 employers already signed on as clients, Jobster is certainly not new to the online recruiting scene. But their concept is such a quantum leap from the traditional online job boards and resume databases that it warrants yet another mention here. Simply put, Jobster is an employee referral management system that employers use to target candidates through trusted sources (current employees) for open positions and, perhaps more importantly, for positions that are not yet open. The goal is the same as every other recruiting site and technology, but their approach is entirely different and surprisingly simple. Rather than posting open positions to ubiquitous job boards and generating a high volume of mostly-unqualified applicants, Jobster approaches the pain of recruiting from within the employers themselves. Jobster helps companies tap their most valuable recruiting resource — their current employees. Through a referral system dashboard and various other viral marketing techniques, trusted employees are able to refer their friends and acquaintances for open positions within their company. There is an inherent accountability in this approach that all but ensures a higher quality of candidates and far fewer instances of unqualified applicants. It may require a little more effort and a bit more imagination, but the results are all that matters. Jobster’s growing list of satisfied and prestigious clients seems to indicate that they are already delivering results.
I’ll admit that I’m not as familiar with the advantages and/or obstacles that Jobster offers job seekers, but I’ll be back when I learn a little more…
