Mothers Happy at Work, but Would Like More Flexibility
Working moms in the U.S. are generally happy with their bosses, a recent survey shows, but would like more flexibility at work. The survey, which consisted of telephone calls to 5,000 adult men and women, showed that 68% of working mothers believed that their bosses properly recognize that they do a good job of balancing work and their home lives. A mere 4% indicated that they felt that their bosses feel they are less committed at work because they have children.
Despite the apparent satisfaction, 47% of the women surveyed noted that a more flexible work environment would help them greatly with being more adaptable as both a mother and employee. Further, 37% said that work would be more enjoyable if they were treated equally to working fathers.
