IT Employees Feeling Just Fine as CIOs Spend More
The National Assembly of Computer Consultant Businesses (NACCB) notes that from October 2005 through March 2006, IT employment has increased at a steady clip, with 47,100 new jobs over that time period. Year-over-year growth for the industry, from March 2005 through March 2006, was 2.7%.
In light of those impressive numbers, perhaps it’s not surprising that IT employee confidence is up in the areas of personal finances, job security and job satisfaction. Hudson’s monthly survey of IT employees found that confidence was way up, in fact, and that CIOs plan on spending 10% more over the next 12 months than in the previous 12 month period. Part of that additional spend is due to the fact that recruiting top IT talent has become more difficult.
By the Numbers:
77% of IT employees noted that they were content with their jobs, up from 73% in February, 2006.
Only 8% rate their personal financial situations as poor, down 6% from February’s poll.
Just 22% of IT employees were concerned about job security, a drop from February’s 28%.
