Rising Healthcare Costs Have HR Pros Concerned

In a recent survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), increasing healthcare costs are at the top of the list of concerns among HR Professionals. Offshore outsourcing and the effects of increasing healthcare costs on U.S. competitiveness were second and third on the list, respectively.

Issues like healthcare costs, access to skilled workers, and business practices are all key areas where HR can and must play a substantial role in helping organizations be more globally competitive, said Susan Meisinger, the President and CEO of SHRM.

According to the same survey, some of the other trends in the U.S. workplace are increased desire and demand for better work/life balance, retirement of baby boomers en masse and new perspectives on aging employees and retirement in general as the nation’s largest generation begins reaching retirement age.
