Regional Unemployment Rates Remain Virtually Unchanged in March
While the national unemployment rate dropped slightly in March, the same was generally true throughout the nation’s individual regions. Overall, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 33 states posted decreases in their respective unemployment rates, nine showed increases and eight others showed no change.
The largest employment increases were in Florida, which gained 24,500 jobs, Texas (23,200), Arizona (16,600) and South Carolina (14,100). The largest decreases were in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Idaho and Pennsylvania.
