Temporary Employees Called on in Increasing Numbers
A new Business Confidence Survey has indicated that almost 45% of small and medium-sized businesses plan to hire more workers in 2006 than in the previous year, with 20% noting that they would utilize temporary staffers to fill their personnel needs.
All told, the survey indicated that 41% of the companies polled would hire additional full-time employees, i.e. employed directly by the company, while 32% noted that they would hire temporary staff. Additionally, 28% of the companies polled indicated that they would utilize overtime to meet their needs and 15% planned on hiring part-time employees.
Of the companies, 86% noted that they expected to meet or exceed growth goals for the first 4 months of 2006 and 79% claimed to feel positively or mostly positive about business conditions for the remainder of the year.
